Thanks so much! Er, glad to have... caused you pain? Good pain? Mebbe?
And yeah, the concept works best with these regenerations, and you really couldn't have done it if they'd had back story with each other. :/ Sad b/c it's a bit lonely to think of Three and D!M never knowing each other existed.
EXACTLY, THAT'S WHY IT HURT! God, how BORED Three must have been without him! And what on EARTH did Delgado!Master spend all his time doing since, as far as I can tell, when he wasn't bothering Three, he was planning his next invasion/summoning to bother Three, and when he wasn't planning to bother Three, he was licking his wounds from the LAST time he'd bothered Three XD. Let's just be honest, that regeneration thoroughly REVOLVED around his Doctor and didn't even TRY to hide it XD. *loves Delgado!Master SO so much*
And... good pain... sort of. Not a fan of pain in any form, but sometimes it's necessary/leads to (!)artistic inspiration. Like in this case. XP Thanks to you my mind been turning over and over AU scenarios in which Three and Delgado!Master had never met and were suddenly thrown together... and I finally landed on one. It's a bit Les Miz, but I think I twisted it well enough, and it was just about the only thing I could think of that would work...
Here is what I have never done: posted a comment on this entry. Here is why: a) I am a prat, and b) I was so COMPLETELY blown away by this fic that it's hard even to know where to start. The writing is 100% spot-on perfect, from beginning to end--by turns hilarious, touching, romantic, heart-wrenching and sweet. The characterization is flawless. Perhaps most impressively of all, though, is the fact that you've built such a believable world--based off the Whoverse, of course, but separate and individual and all its own and beautiful in entirely new ways. Probably the best compliment I can give is that within five minutes of finishing this fic I'd begun writing fic in this 'verse in my own head, and when your fannishness inspires fannishness of its own you know you've succeeded, yes? :) In short, this is a marvelous piece of work, one of my absolute favorite pieces of fic in this or any fandom, and thank you so much for writing it and sharing it with all of us.
We were thinking, after Big Bang, of doing an Open Universe challenge, where people signed up to indicate their willingness to have their worlds played in (with any caveats, like Not This Fic I'm Writing A Sequel Still, etc.)? I'm all for it, I think it could be fun (and am all about fic in this universe, challenge or no--I'm kind of attached to its general schmoopiness, as well as it being my first finished novel-length thing).
Even Tegan and Nyssa want to get gay married in space! What, Tegan has a good job now--she can provide for Nyssa in the lifestyle to which she has become accustomed!!
So, I finally got back to it and read it all in one sitting. Which makes it difficult to comment on specific portions, but I liked the entire work very much. I loved that Jane Austen feel you have going in various places. Very entertaining, as always.
