I am working for Mike Ward, and CTAP...it's sort of confusing. Right now I'm doing land cover classification on aerial and satellite images for a bird project, and after that is finished, sometime next month, I'll be assisting the CTAP botanists with surveys.
I don't know anything about plant surveys, so I'll mostly be walking around writing down what they tell me to, but I think I'll probably be learning trees to help them out.
The job only lasts until the end of August, but there's a 'possibility for extension'.
I applied with them for a different job last month, but they didn't get back to me about that one, and then suddenly two weeks ago, Mike emailed me about this job. He didn't really even interview me, just asked when I could start, so it was all very sudden and wonderful.
That is pretty cool. I know the INHS is a big place, but if you ever run into Jason Zylka or Valerie Sivicek they are good friends of mine and cool people. Jason even has good taste in indie music.
Also, I have some peeps I might be able to introduce you to via the crazy world of internets. They are awesomely nice and into deliciously awesome movies and muics. PEC might even be meeting these days. You could be like that creepy old guy who used to come to our meetings that I don't think was a student at the university, but he sure was creepy.
