I have been a cancerslug fan for a very long time, and I must say the New Album Battle Hymms is pretty good even though it is all old songs redone, but it atleast gives a little taste of early Cancerslug, the production value on this cd is not that great unless they are going for a fuzzy sound and Alex doesn't have as much Elvisey twang as he use ( Read more... )

sorry to dissapoint, Eric, but it seems as though this is the direction that Alex always wanted the band to be heading. The next CD is battle hymns vol. 2, which should be available by this weekend for download, and after that comes book of rats, which should be by x-mas. Book of Rats will sound more like Curse Arcanum than any of the older stuff...

I'm sorry to offend Mr. Cancerslug himself, its just hard for me to unerdstand how can a band change when they were so good in the first place and that goes for everyone not just Cancerslug, But with Danzig breaking off the Misfits and ending up in Danzig because he wanted to go darker, or Davey Havok of Afi going from eastbay hardcore punk to glam punk rock, and I know its their choices but when the majority of the fans don't like the " new stuff", but I digress and I know I might get some comments about this people saying its the bands chocies to make what right do you have, but ah well its how I fell I want Danzig back in the misfist Davey to lose the lipstick and fishnets, and Alex to go back to the thing that set them apart from all other punk and horror punk bands.

I agree with you, my darling.
It was a sad day when one of the best bands I've ever listened to (Cancerslug) changed their sound to something so much different and so much more common. Look at Metallica. Who likes them anymore? But look at them like a million years ago and they were great. We must face the fact that when people get old they (generally) get worse. I'm willing to bet that Alex just can't sing as well as he used to so he had to move on to harder stuff. And hardcore is like a virus, it is taking over everywhere so maybe that could be influencing them a little. Ah, well.

Sierra agreeing doesn't add much flava to the arguement, couples agreeing (outside of the relationship) is like cumming on a hookers face, it's expected ( ... )

According to Alex, the reason that the band did Battle Hymns was because when they orignally recorded the songs, it wasn't the way he wanted them to be. They had a "shitty drummer" (Shane) who didn't know how to do any speed but hardcore punk fast. And some of the songs were meant to be slower and more melodic ( ... )
