A Contradiction in Terms

Someone just posted on the San Francisco LJ asking for a recommendation of an "affordable hotel with free parking in San Francisco". :-) Hmm. Good luck with that!

Some years back, we stayed at a place that was pretty nice and not too expensive on lower Lombard Street. I think it was called the Coventry or something to that effect. It had free parking underneath.

There are places still on Lombard that have parking and, by SF standards are fairly reasonable but this was a high school kid coming in "for a few days". :-)

He got all sorts of advice such as "stashing his car over in the Haight by the Panhandle" (!!!!!!) to staying in a hotel in the Tenderloin... Argh. If he were to follow that advice, his car would be burglarized, then stolen and he would probably be murdered. :-)

Someone actually did mention to him to check the hotels on Lombard Street. That was a good idea.
