Tea, tea, and more tea

15 weeks since last post, apparently. I don't call people often enough, I don't write letters, I don't even post passive mass-messages on LJ. I'm sure this Says Something, but I'm not sure I feel like examining exactly -what- at the moment ( Read more... )

To my taste, the darker and richer the flavor of the tea, the better. White/silver/green, not so much.

Well, sometimes this "subtle" thing has merits. For example, the genmaicha - green tea with puffed rice in it -- that Yama serves with their sushi, or the jasmine tea you usually get in Thai restaurants. Black tea wouldn't work nearly so well in those situations.

On the other hand, I think green tea would be kinda gross (by which I mean absolutely disgusting) with cake, cookies, or other Western tea snacks. Certainly you need black tea if you're having it with breakfast foods.

But for sipping... it depends on my mood. I think I like darker teas when I'm cold and lighter teas when I'm thirsty (they're less tannic), but I haven't made objective notes of how often I choose which.

I do miss your posts. :) Here's hoping we'll maybe see you poke your head up a little more often.

aaaw, you noticed I was gone? ;)

Yeah, I have random Stuff to ramble about, so maybe I'll sit at the keyboard more often. We'll see.

Ah, well, see, that gets to the "What do I keep an online journal for? What do I really want to share with the world, or even [with my friends but through a relatively impersonal medium]?" (Those brackets were for conceptual grouping.) I don't think I want to put anything too serious on here anymore... nothing that I wouldn't leave completely unlocked. What I should do is actually -call- people, or arrange to -do- stuff, and share anything of actual value in person.

Maybe that's not what I'll actually do, given my amazing skills of social coordination and advance planning, but I'm still kindof thinking in that direction.

(It seems like stuff always comes up, and then I'm surprised when it doesn't and I have a free weekend after all, in which case I assume everyone else already has plans. I should maybe plan more long-range things, like a mid-March trip to a Brazilian bbq place, or a late-February dinner party, or an early-April zoo trip, or whatever. I could use official evites and everything.)
