I know some people here are going to China for the eclipse. Could anyone let me know where they're headed? I might decide to go, if it's reasonable-ish. Thanks!
Our plan is to go to Shanghai (for the eclipse), also Beijing and maybe Xian. Tickets were running about $1K, but you may want to ask Greg and Becca what they paid for theirs, since they just got them. I can add you to the wiki if you want to see more details!
The track of Totality runs due west from just-north-of-Shanghai. I'm also putting together a trip. I've seen 3 before, they're awesome. Not sure how hard it'll be getting around, tho - I know no Mandarin or anything else that would help. Check out the NASA eclipse home page for details. Let me know if you decide to go!
I'm strongly debating it. If i can make it happen for a fairly small amount of money, it might be just what i need. My Mandarin is mostly forgotten at this point, but i do know how to use a dictionary and rudimentary grammar! =)
(Also, you're in Ann Arbor, right? You should look up the a2geeks crowd. In the Wired picture they have up on their at page, I'm standing immediately to the left of the reporter holding the camera =) That's noisebridge, where i've been trying to spend less of my free time.)
