So, my main fandom is a sci-fi show, and we are lucky enough to have conventions to meet up at. Those of you who were on com on Tuesday night might remember me drunkenly inviting all 5,000 of you to my house in January.

Well, you KNOW I totally want to go... but as previously mentioned, I'll be in Grand Rapids around January 29th anyhow, for Matty G's solo concert. I might be staying longer in the area anyhow, depending on how I can swing it (I have NO idea what any job i might get by then will have me doing), because I have lots of fangirlies in the area I need to see. lol.

But I think a con would be THE AWESOMEST idea. I'd be even cooler if we could somehow manage a huge GOING TO MATT'S CONCERT thing to go with it, but that might be a little late in the month. lol!

Well, let me know, because the venue is smaller, and the FTLs are all getting together (well, maybe only like, 10 of us) and we're buying a subscription to the venue to get discounted A section seating (in the first few rows)... :D We're trying to get a list together of who's going and whatnot, with people paying us back for the concert tickets by mid-October...

An actual official Idol-con would be a great idea. IDK when they'd do it, though. :x

Fellow SF & F book & media fan here! I so agree with you on the con thing -- look at the Doctor Who people -- (all series - old & new & even the 1996 tvmovie). Fanbase interaction FTW!
