December 2017

Sep 16, 2015 02:59

"Earlier this year Italian neuroscientist Sergio Canavero shocked the world when he announced he would perform the world’s first human head transplant. This week Canavero announced the procedure is scheduled for December 2017."

Have... Fun? Where are you going to find your people?

I don't need to. They have already been found. I simply want a seat in the operating theatre, if others will be permitted to observe this experiment.

Oh good grief. Is this what you've been reading at your desk tonight? Reading - I might add - instead of coming out with me? As if that is the right, or even a possible choice.

Yes. Fascinating, isn't it? I want to see it. I will find a way to be in attendance when this surgery takes place.

Out with you? Out where?

What? What does that matter? With me. Out there! The city! Under that infinite sky.

I was not aware that you had plans for us tonight. I hope you've come up with something as fascinating as this.

They're actually going to attempt this insanity?!

How are they going to keep the head alive once it's been removed from the body?  How are they going to get the new body to stay alive long enough to attach it's new head?  So they have a volunteer head but do they have a volunteer body?  Who willingly volunteers to die so that another guy can have his body?  Frankenstein horror movie.

They're creating a monster.

The body will be a donor. Already deceased.

It is my understanding that the patient will be placed into a medically induced coma while healing begins.

I must see it with my own eyes.

if the donor body Is dead and assuming they can effectively remove this dude's head without it dieing in the process how are they going to revive the dead body that now has a living head attached to it.  This is of course assuming they can re-attach all the nerves in the new spinal column to the head nerves which are dead..Yeah I see this not working and ending 2 lives.

Science can do alot of things but it can't bring back the dead.  Once you're soul leaves the building it's over.

How are they going to keep the soul of the guy who is having his head removed and transplanted from leaving the building during the procedure?

The donor will be brain dead only, but physically healthy. That sort of thing happens quite often in the mortal world. The brain will never recover and the next of kin are forced to made a difficult decision. In this case, their decision could allow a dying, crippled man to have his life renewed and extended.

Both head and body will be cooled, ensuring that the cells slow down, but do not die.

As for the soul, that is another matter entirely and one that remains to be seen.

Along the lines of what Athena said, as I don't understand how it's actually going to work, let alone the following psychological repercussions, perhaps after it's been done someone will have to fully explain it.

I don't think that any of us can fully comprehend it, cara mia. That is what makes the idea of it so incredible.

Does it say anything about how long he anticipates that the surgery will take?

The thought of it makes me rather uneasy. Though I suppose for people who have suffered paralysis, it might be an answer to their prayers.

I just can't imagine how anyone could live a "normal" life with a foreign body.

I believe the surgery time is estimated at 36 hours. The after effect of it all remains to be seen, of course, but if is is successful, it will change the future!

I have to wait two more years, Sunstone. I am impatient.

Troverete abbastanza distrazione per i prossimi due anni.

Mi rispettosamente prendo congedo.

(I hope my Italian was good enough.)
