let me guess you were in fredericksburg.

out of all the shows i've been too in the past 2 years .... Fredericksburg(a more recent development of dissapointment) and Richmond have had more and more kids come to shows to show off their new trendy clothes and haircut as opposed to ennjoying the music. THey trash talk the kids that don't look just like them. I think a lot of us have been harboring this bitterness towards the scene for a while now. hahaha we just don't know who to bitch to.

actually i was in north carolina, which made it even worse, because it's sad to see that it's not only richmond, it's grown past the point of being contained. i just kinda wish that we could go back a couple of years to when shows were actually worth going to.

i unfortunately must completely agree with you. i remember us having a similar conversation while waiting for the wow owls show to start (along with many other times, i'm sure). it's indeed sad that music has become so much more about a kind of pack mentality, with a hierarchy of "cool" which is set independently by group. having the most "underground" patches on your shirt or the most spikes on your jacket or having the tallest mohawk or (as yo mentioned) having the foulest mouth. people get together at shows now just as a place to hash out this hierarchy. it's all about trying to fit into some predetermined mold, which means liking certain bands and going to their shows and buying their albums, so you can ascend on the hierarchy
