ahh i think there were a few things i had promised to post about. i think one of them was my trip to the hospital (about a month and a half ago now). and the other i believe was regarding maternity leave. so uh, let me start with the hospital trip.

do i see testicles?
last friday bryan and i went to the hospital for the official 1st trimester ultrasound. they'll use this to test for trisomy 21 / down's syndrome. they measured the thickness of the neck and took some blood samples. the doc asked us if we wanted to know the sex of the baby. i was surprised we would be able to see something so early. the doc moved ( Read more... ) -
holiday greetings
it's been a while since i've posted. there is a reason. and the reason is morning sickness. yep, i'm knocked up, bun in the oven, and all of the other euphemisms you can think of. right now i'm just shy of 13 weeks and still dealing with nausea. i'm getting better at coping after 8 weeks of wicked nausea and occasional vomiting. if i don't get a ( Read more... ) -
back home
it's been a long week, but not an altogether bad week. although it certainly has been a week of brainlessness on my part. i took the train to boston, and then the morning i was to fly to DC, i realized i didn't have my license. so i had to take the train. an 8 hour train ride, but it wasn't as bad as i expected. i caught up on work emails and read ( Read more... ) -
9 finger typing
well, we made it up the 500ft steep climb called agony grind and then i cut myself and we had to turn around. dumb me bought a new knife (rather than a leatherman) and i had it on my belt. i thought it had a safety for both opening and closing, but i learned the hard way it doesn't. luckily the shot of adrenaline gave me the energy to make it back ( Read more... ) -
apt hunting
today we looked at an apt near b's college. our current apt is big and great, in a good neighborhood and honestly it's reasonably priced. but month after month the money gets tighter and tighter. i really love to travel and looking ahead, that's not going to be possible. there are tons of things i'd like to plan ahead for (the arrival of muffin - ( Read more... )
