im glad you feel the same way.
i was talking to my husband about all this this morning
he feels as though if people dont immerse themselves in constant information and culture pertaining towards animal rights (or for us, vegan edge which is all encompassing) they grow apathetic.
for me seeing/hearing about animal abuse once was enough to put me off for life but i guess some people really need peer support and will fail without it
i feel sad for them that their is no strength in their inner conviction.
i'm drunk all the time (ok, not really) and i've never "slipped up." i'm already a label nazi, but i'm even worse when i've been drinking. but personally, i don't think it's right for people to attack that person; it's fucked up and it shouldn't have happened, but there's no reason to feel bad about something that already happened that you can't change.
my point isn't attacking the person, it is just saying that the "oh well you were drunk, do over" attitude seems ridiculous you know? especially when they wouldn't say the same about other things that could happen that would affect another beings life.
