You almost never hear me give uninvited advice, but just for the record, because you're so special, let me just say:

Doing even difficult jobs is infinitely easier than managing people.

Always document things that can come back to help/hurt you. In other words: cover your butt.

Lead, direct, and trust in people, but don't let them dump their responsibilities and problems on you.

Don't dump your responsibilities/problems onto your own superiors. Most of them don't want any more drama than they already have.

Be fair and be consistent but aware that not everything works in every situation.

Appreciate intelligence and good work.

Be yourself ... but work at it, and never let anyone see you sweat.

Eat a nice breakfast every morning, preferably with a piece of fruit, and start walking more.

Oh, push-ups are nice too. :)

You'll be fine, theres nothing to managing people, they are like sheep, just want reassurance and a feeling you arent an ogre. And never ask anyone to do what you wouldnt do yourself, and show them that now and again, it'll impress the fuck outta them...LOL
