LJ Backup

So does anyone know a utility for backing up one's LJ that runs on Mac OS X and actually works?

XJournal just spent hours on the download saying "Downloading 0 of 0" and, at least according to Lil Snitch, wasn't actually accessing the internet in any way. It will log in and let me post, and such, but doesn't seem to be able to actually download my

How much do you enjoy the command line?

I ran it like:

perl ljsm.pl -a -r -i 2 -u :

Worked fine for me on Leopard.

I second this. There are a handful of CLI options out there, that's one of them. All the best ones are command-line. All the cool kids are doing it. =)

Wow. ljsm is awesome. I didn't know about it before. Thank you!

Also, I nearly posted just to say "yay guinea pig".

This is a known problem where the History.plist gets corrupted.

First make sure you are running the most recent version. You can get it here.
https://sourceforge.net/projects/ljkit/

Then check the following folder and delete the History.plist file.
/Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support/Xjournal/

Then open Xjournal and in the History window hit Download.

It should work properly now. If it doesn't please let me know.

Which version of Xjournal are you running?

And what is actually happening?

I have reproduced the same problem. I followed the above advice and the download still did not work. I installed the program about five minutes ago, using the most recent version.

I just launched XJournal for the first time, specifically to backup my LJ. On opening the download window, it said it could not connect to the network and access my history…"Please try again later." When I clicked the Refresh button, it crashed.

When I reopened the app, I discovered I had put in the password incorrectly. Interesting bug, and it seems like that error might be able to be handled more gracefully. Sorry I don't have the skills to investigate it myself.
