Partner Vision: An Exercise in Clarity & Vulnerability

Dec 18, 2008 23:37

I was talking to my friend Jon, who mentioned something somewhat audacious and gutsy that his wife did when she wanted to find a partner. She wrote up a “Soul Mate Vision” and THEN she emailed it to everyone she knew. He’d read it even before he went on a date with her so he knew what she was looking to create.

My first reaction was, “SERIOUSLY ( Read more... )

I wrote up a similar list. It helped, a lot. Something about just this process...

I'm glad you envision someone extraordinary. Personally, I'm still pinching myself almost three years later.

Thank you SO much. :)
One of my biggest fears before making this public was people telling me I didn't deserve this or was reaching "too high".

Then I thought, "Well, screw that. When do I NOT reach?" :)

"Too high"?

Ridiculous. With all you have to offer, you could afford to go even higher. The fellow who pings all these traits will be astounded, how lucky he is to have you.

Besides, itemized as it is, it's still just a guideline. We all know you'll look holistically at him, and your forgiving, bendy nature will wind nicely around the right man for you.

SO true.

The last two men I loved did NOT fit stuff on this list, and it didn't matter squat in the loving of the luminous, beautiful human beings they are. Still love them.

Though it did matter in the long-term working-out part!

Great list! Thanks for sharing. Are there any famous people/fictional archetypes who meet most of your criteria?

You know - I can't recall seeing anyone famous or fictional that meets that. I HAVE met at least two - maybe 3 - people in real life that fit all of them. :)

I think she should say yes to all pre-screened date offers from friends. YOU HEAR THAT XLESTE!!! Just say yes!

If i set her up with anyone, I'm having them read her list first. And if they're not scared, that's a start.

I'm really amused by the, "if they're not scared, that's a start" - which is really funny because it should be a screen!

So Traumentwerfer, tell me about the friend?
