The Bulge

Remember the bulge on the back of Bush's suit during the 1st debate? The secret service says now it was a bullet proof vest. They didnt want anyone to know before because it would give away details of campaign security.

Most of the stuff about this was just plain ridiculous. First of all, if Bush were being fed answers by Karl Rove, Dick Cheney or someone else, why did he do so poorly? Also, a columnist -- I believe it was the same one columnist who originally proposed the "hump's" existence -- made a reference to something similar that Hitler did, but when asked about it his response was something along the lines of, "Of course I'm not going to compare Bush to Hitler; Hitler was a better speaker."

As I've said before, I believe this kind of extremism among Kerry supporters (aka Bush-haters) hurt their candidate in the long run. Most people see a statement like that and doubt not only that Bush is Hitler-esque, but doubt anything and everything that this guy says. I didn't even believe that the "hump" existed, but if the secret service has confirmed it I guess it must be so. In any case, I didn't notice. I even looked for it during a brief clip of the debate that was shown in a video-collage of the election on FOX.
