I have no experience, no applicable resume, and if I were to be considered for the job I'd suddenly have to quit school and move to Austin. I don't think so.
This whole thing is throwing my doubts about my major into the light again. Am I getting a degree I don't even want to use?

You have no decent reason not to apply-you have absolutely nothing to lose. See how far you get, you can always turn it down if you get it. Besides, it might offer you some insight into the writing process, specifically getting into an area you find of interest.

Apply for the job anyway. Just make sure your resume is stellar and you really put thought into the application. They might still consider you for something else.
