Considering his penchant for disturbing dangerous animals, this really isnt unexpected. Many people in Australia die from stingray attacks each year. Some of them have toxic glands along their spine, some of them have sharp barbs that they use to pierce their foes. They are pretty dangerous.

I wonder if he yelled CRIKEY! when the stingray stabbed him.

He was underwater so if he did, I imagine that led to his death as well.
