LJ Idol 10: Where I Am Now

Jan 31, 2017 17:28

I've been living in a a local hotel while my kitchen floor, victim of a longstanding undetected leak, is being replaced. If I remain here into next week, it will be just shy of a month since I slept in my own bed, watched Netflix, cooked from scratch. The dogs are with my husband, whose job is in a neighboring state 4 hours away. My work ( Read more... )

I wonder about the stories of the other people -- I bet you'd find yourself running a lot of impromptu errands. This was a very interesting entry. I hope you move back to your house soon!

P is the only vocal one because she's the one who's the most visible (aka the smoking area, which happens to be kitty-corner to my room). She's probably also the only one here who doesn't have kids, maybe?

It would be interesting hearing others' stories. They don't hang around like P does, so I can only imagine.

Tough read. There is always someone whose life's woes make yours seem insignificant isn't there? Hopefully the children will be young and resilient enough not to carry fear and resentment the rest of their lives. That they won't fall into a pattern of abuse, either of self or caused by others. I wish those women well.

Yaya for getting back in your home soon! That'll be a relief! Hugs and peace~~~

Thank you :) This place is a sanctuary for them if you think about it, with all the safety features like the door handles. I haven't seen enough kids to make any kind of judgment, but I would think that, living through something like this, they'd imprint the pattern so not to copy it when they get older.

She practically told you her life history! I don't blame you for getting unnerved. Good to know you'll be back home soon :) This was an interesting read.

Thank you!

I've met women like her before. That "telling your life story" to a stranger seems to be a universal thing with women like her. I suspect it probably stems from the trauma they've endured.

Wow! Oh wow! You did not take me where I thought we were going.

Most of all, your description, creation in the sense that you bring her to life on the page, of the woman you encountered, is phenomenal.

Riveting read!
