Amish girl, 13, asked to be shot in exchange for gunman freeing the others.

Her sister, who survived, knows now how much she was loved. That's...some kind of legacy, I guess.

I read that a couple of days ago in our local paper. My God. *sigh* And the way the Amish community has reached out to the gunman's famiy? Amazes me.

More than half of those attending the gunman's funeral were Amish. Their need to forgive and support his family is almost too painful.

I'm having a harder time being all wrathful and vengeful with this one because the Amish haven't been. I'm not saying I could want the best for the dude's soul if it were my community and my kids, but I think it's probably the fastest way to work through the pain.
