Apparently I have to drive to another city to an Alltel store talk to a technician who can look up my account number and set up a password for my phone before driving back to my city, logging on my computer, setting up an account through the Alltel website, and filling out the necessary bank information to get my bill amounts auto-deducted. I agree with darkseaglass - that's too fucked up to deal with. Call them, tell them you're cancelling if you can't get the number over the phone, and ask to speak to a supervisor. There's no reason to put up with that bullshit.

My family and coworkers've always been pretty happy with Alltel, and I wanted to stick with them because there's free in-network calling. I'm hoping I maybe just had a dumbnuts on the phone. I figure I'll stop at the store (which isn't that far from my office) and see what they have to say. If they're no more helpful, I'll cancel.
