To loaf is an old english infinitive that means "to be lazy" like for example, on my day off I spent a lot of time sleeping and loafing around the house. They made shoes back then that are slippers but can be worn anywhere. They decided that it would be perfect for people who are too lazy to tie thier shoes, and were perfect for loafing around, so they called them loafers.
I always thought they called them loafers because they thought it would be appropriate to name them after something they had nothing in common with - a loaf of bread.
"Loafers" is not a subject which one is typically familiar with, and I wasn’t aware of your expertise concerning the matter. You can enjoy knowing more about loafers than me, beau. No doubt you'll get far with it and may my highest praise be with you.
What's funny, though, is your incredibly weak ability to detect sarcasm despite being a person whose humor heavily depends upon it. Oh, and to spell common names correctly too, you're not much good at that either.
I’m going to get back to reading the encyclopedia, later.
