a couple of nights ago, james, fergno, and i had a deep drunken conversation.  not too drunk.  we still had our heads on straight.  it was more about things we have been thinking about recently.  truth.  balance.  reality.  good.  evil.  i guess i can't explain it.  maybe one would have to be there to understand the details.  maybe next time, we  ( Read more... )

hemingway was a huge drinker too. read more of his stuff. i like him more than steinbeck.. only recently though.

what would you recommend? i'm open. currently, i'm reading a farewell to arms. i don't know. too many prepositions. nothng too deep yet. most of the characters are kind of one-dimensional. probably the best line, so far, paraphrasing, "the cowards die thousands of times, and the brave only once." steinbeck just seems to really get into the whole spectrum of human emotion through his diverse characters, plot, and the "inner chapters" with the omnipresent commentary.
