Last night was interesting. Despite having a large portfolio due I opted to go to DownBelow for some one of these DnB parties that I have been hearing so much about. those suckers at the fashion show were spinning bad music, and on cds, and without beat matching or even crossfading. we all bitched the entire time about how johnny coming out of the closet with his house records wouldve killed that shit.

mp3 dj'ing doesnt hafta be the devil. if you're using an mp3dj program that autobeatmatches everything and you don't go looking for good music/records, then you suck. but if you're still searching out music all the time and digging for the good stuff (in the shops AND online) then being able to spin mp3s is a valuable tool. it'll really all be over when finalscratch comes out. control mp3s with vinyl. that's the holy grail. there's a lot of good underground shit being done that's not available on vinyl that i need/want to be able to spin, in addition to spinning my own tracks. and i'm too fuckin poor to be cutting dubplates all the time. finalscratch doesn't do the work for you, it only provides an interface to control your mp3s. that's where it's at.

do you know what program he used? Traktor DJ Studio is a good ass fucking program and it doens't do anything automatic.. yuo have in front of you pitch benders, cross faders and level controls and some filter effects for you to mess with.. Traktor rocks. actually i'm using it as "training" before i get my tables, but it's still an awesome program.
