Anyway, there's a lot of stuff on that iPod that's going to be lost to the ever-shifting sands of technology and I'd like to avoid losing nice things like the first Okkervil River record and all those Mountain Goats bootlegs. I remember there was a program floating around a while back that let you take files from your iPod and save them onto your computer; does anyone still have that? Or know where I can find it? Specifically for OS X?
There are a bunch of them, actually; the best is Podworks, which costs $8. There's also Copygear, although I don't know offhand what its trial limitations are.
I think Merlin and I are in agreement that it's the best thing they've done since "Navy Blues." I won't spoil what may be the worst rhyming couplet in the history of Western pop music, but keep an ear open for it.
I'll be down for the Saturday Okkervil show, incidentally.
Oh, I didn't forget tonight's show. Have fun, I won't see you there.
And yeah, I'm hitting both nights of Harvey Danger instead of A&A. Once they added the Dynabros it was no contest, and A&A are playing again for CMJ, so I'll see them then.
I was semi-spared the Mountain Goats/Hold Steady conundrum because I bought tickets for the Hold Steady date at the Masonic Temple in Hamden CT (capacity 100, woo) for the 30th before I even realized there was a conflict.
I'm going to Europa tonight, and I don't have a ticket for Sunday, but if I were a betting man I'd put money on me standing outside the Bowery on Sunday. So yeah probably.
I mean, do you want to see the Boys and Girls in America songs live enough to spend $17.50 + $10 per drink, + potential bruises? If you regret it that much afterward, there's always CMJ. I guess. *shrugs*
1. Mountain Goats!! Bear in mind this is also the decision I would make for myself, which I don't think would even surprise Craig and Tad at this point. Especially if THS is all ages. Bonus: Christine Fellows is sort of... the physical manifestion of God? Oh, how I cried. So much love.
2. Someone in New York should give me a ticket to at least 1 Built to Spill/Camper van Beethoven show. I hate everything.
3. You should head over to Sin-é after HD. With a broom and dustpan. Or some HazMat gloves and a hospital gurney. Because I will most likely need to be picked up.
so i kind of forgot the mountain goats were this weekend instead of next when making my work schedule, and so i'm not going to be able to get in until 9:00-9:30 saturday night. sunday would be even later. which means i can't show up right at doors. so can you help make sure saturday happens for me and stuff? okay? because i love you, and them. thanks.

Haven't had a chance to listen to the new Sloan yet but I'll let you know when I do. It'd better be awesome.

Are you going to both nights of Harvey Danger? What about that Apes & Androids show?

Mountain Goats Pros:

Free drinks
IT'S THE FUCKING MOUNTAIN GOATS
Mountain Goats Cons:
Will have seen them the night before
GOD that new record makes me sad
Hold Steady Pros:
It's the Hold Steady
Galen will be there, obvs.
Hold Steady Cons:
Have to buy a ticket
$10 drinks
Everything implied by the words "Vagrant Records"
Um, yeah
On paper, it looks like the Mountain Goats win, but I'll have to see how I'm feeling on Sunday.
