I know many are not religious, I'm not myslef, but I at least try to believe and a really good friend brought up a good point. When we try to better ourselves, we do it for the wrong reasons. I think that God would rather us better society than bettering ourselves as individuals.
Self-improvement is good on a lower level than improvement for society.
Granted...I don't believe in an invisible man in the clouds, I believe in Science...and maybe this reply is just the Communist in me...But anyway.
