Another use for playsilks
Lo and behold we had a warm day! The boys wanted to 'camp' so we took out some of the larger hand-dyed playsilks and make a tent out of them....joy joy joy!

my warp became a road
I was so proud of myself when I warped 6 yards of this beautiful cotton/tencel twill weave so I could make a zillion placemats with some leftover for a few bags. But then we packed up the loom and moved it 300 miles south and between that and 2 boys using the warp as a road for their cars, the threads broke and knotted and I only got a placemat ( Read more... ) -
what i made in the last month
I wasn't going to post this, but I have too because it represents my life these days, and I am not (necessarily) looking for sympathy (okay, i am!) because all you mamas out there have the same situation...

in praise of the pressure cooker
30 minutes for beans
6 minutes for potatoes
10 minutes for beets.....
do i sound like i spend all my time in the kitchen? :-)
actually, i found this super easy groovy snack for the boys--mochi (pounded brown sweet rice). chop it up, pop it in the oven and voila---healthy, sweet food without sugar! whoop, that's the timer going off now....... -

I cross posted my entry about 'how do moms find time for spinning' to the spinningfiber community and got ALOT of response--I guess there are many fiber mamas out there! Most seem to have the same problems as me--spinning wheels are like candy for young children.....but most also seem to be able to spin when their kids are sleeping.
