The Yarns, Peat part 5

I'm not having much luck keeping these updates once I've written them. Between both accidentally deleting part 4 and saving over this one's original version, I'm irritated with myself. Ugggh. (Part 4 is back though, it can be read here if you missed it).



The Yarns have now arrived at their beautiful tropical home in their now inappropriate winter wear. We change out of that pretty quick, but first Emerald needs to have a little dance time with mama.



The girls are really excited to be at the ocean!



And so am I, it looks so beautiful on my new computer!!



Emerald loves the ocean, she takes to the water like a little fishy.



And of course, there's sandcastle building!! (So appropriate for this slightly fairytale-themed generation :D)



Enchanted starts hula dancing. Little sister copies. Enchanted stops. Little sister stops. Rinse repeat.



But maybe little sister has figured it out?



I love the effort <3



Clem has found the mahjong table!!



Enchanted: Ooooh, Gramma!! You're my best friend!! Can I play too?!
Clementine: Of course, I love playing with you girls!



Clementine: Oh, Peat are you going to play too?? *yawns*
Peat: Thought I'd see what all the excitement was about!



Guess he left. Maybe Emerald took too long to pick pieces or something.



There's lots of mahjong to be played. Lotssssssss



Peat: AHHHHHhhhhh!!!!!! I went on a boat tour and forgot I left the porkchops in the oven and now they're BUUUUUUUURNING!!! HALP!

Don't worry. He called the fire department. Fire out, no one died! And I even remember to buy a smoke detector when it's done \o/



Moar hula!



She looks so pleased to have figured it out!



Or at least, mostly figured it out.



Sowwwwy, she's just so cute when she dances!



He *glows* when he builds sandcastles!! *SQUEEEEEE*



I think there's a wee obession happening.



While her sister obsesses over Mahjong strategy and how to beat Gramma Clementine, Emerald gets points for swimming in the ocean! Really! (skill points and aspiration points!)



Peat: I can float on my tummy!
Emerald: Me too!
Peat: Wheeee!! My feet are floating up up up!



Peat: So, what do you think of the beach house?
Allison: It's fantastic! So nice and warm here, I don't even have to get dressed if I don't want to!



Peat: I know, great isn't it? I can walk around all day in just my swim trunks. It's a great place to come when it's too cold at home.
Allison: Agreed. But it's so ... orange!



Peat: Heh, yeah. Granddad decorated it for my mom, and you know how much she likes orange!!



A nice game of catch to round out the afternoon.



And the grownups have a late game of Mahjong after the littles are gone to bed. I don't even think Clementine has left the table! (Oh wait, she's in a different seat. She must have gotten up at some point!)



Emerald pulls Allison out for an early swim the next morning. It's dawned another lovely day at the beach house!



Peat grills hamburgers for lunch, and Clementine even joins them inside at the table!



Peat: I saw in the paper that it might rain later. Thunder, even!
Allison: *gasp*
Clementine: We need to cover the mahjong table!!



At which point Emerald bursts in and has an exuberant conversation with her Gramma.
Emerald: Gramma, Gramma!! I thought of a song! You want to hear it?
Clementine: Sure.



Emerald: *sings* Floating on the ocean, up and down! Just like a jellyfish wearin' a crown!



Emerald: What do you think?
Clementine: *sings* I've always wanted to sing a song 'bout a jellyfish. Let's sing another verse, together now!



Clementine and Emerald spend quite a bit of time together at the beach house, cuz they want to be BFFs, which is fine with me. Clementine tells her all sorts of stories about pirate ships and dragons.



And teaches her perfect paint colors and how to make your tub shine.



Peat and Allison have some fun of their own.



And the orange trees fruit while they're there!!



Fruit salad! Yummy Yummy!~!! (sorry, couldn't help myself. lol)



Gramma always has more dance moves to teach them.





"ahh the sounds of slapping palms..."



Poor Enchanted managed to get sunburned ... playing Mahjong? She looks unhappy about it too, or maybe her mama is winning.



BFFs FO SHO!!



Emerald: I always wanted my mama and Gramma to be best friends!! +500!!!

Actually though, did you know they could roll wants to "Play Mahjong" or "Play Mahjong with X"???? THEY TOTALLY CAN!! XD



So we cheated called over Russet and the family to spend a day at the beach house with us. There was lots of dancing.



And of course mahjong for the grownups.



The next morning Enchanted tries to explain some Mahjong strategy to her sister...
Enchanted: It's kind of like skiing ...
Emerald: We've never been skiing.
Enchanted: Shh! It's kind of like skiining, you just watch the important bits.
Emerald: ....?



Enchanted: Are you hot Gramma? You're wearing so many clothes and it's warm out here! We could stop the game here.



Clementine: I may be glowing(!!), but I'm not hot. I would understand if your burnt little self was too hot though. Do you want to stop?
Enchanted: No, I'm fine!



*ponder ponder*



Clementine: YES!!
Emerald: *burnt woe*



And with that final victory, vacation tiems come to a close.
