Blocking Q

Nov 06, 2010 14:24

I'm crocheting a scarf using Merino 3-ply, worsted weight, and it's going to need to be evened out a little bit, so the width is uniform. Hopefully I won't need to do anything to the length. What's the best way to block it? I see that there are several ways to block including saturating and then pinning or pinning and then spraying.

I always saturate and then pin or weight it down, but I don't see why pinning and spraying wouldn't work. The only reason i do it the way I do is 'cause that's how my gramma did it.

Thanks. I read on some site that merino breaks easily when fully saturated, but I need to wash it before I gift it anyway. So I plan to handwash and then block it.

I've never had any of my merino yarn break and I'm pretty rough with it while I'm dyeing it.

But I think the pinning and spraying might just be easier in general!
