Confronting the Past

Ty Lee nervously began to play with the braid in her hair as she wandered down the halls of the Fire Nation Palace.

She'd heard that Azula had been moved to a new room; part of her worried about this.  Azula was manipulative... did she happen to get to Zuko?  Why else would he have moved her?  The girl sighed, her bangs fluttering slightly when ( Read more... )

The knock echoed in the large room and Azula looked towards the door, the fire in her hand dying down and she let out a frustrated almost-growl. Her fire bending had suffered in the time she’s been locked away. That was Zuko’s plan. The interruption didn’t help either! For a few minutes, she ignores the door…waiting for a servant to get it but she remembers Zuko has all of the servants now.

“Come in!” Her shout is angry and she glares at the door, waiting for whoever it is to enter. She isn't expecting who is at her door in the least, she hadn't thought about her. At least, not for too long without becoming angry.

Ty Lee gripped the door tightly. The sound of her voice sent chills down her spine--and not the good kind. She was starting to think she wasn't ready for this. Even so, she still opened the door, and she still stepped inside. Her eyes went to the floor in an instant, but she realized she had to be brave.

Holding her head up, she said, "Hello, Azula! Long time no see, right?" Her smile was small, but her attitude was happier than she'd thought she could muster.

When she finally took in Azula's weary, angry expression, she bit her lip. The years... were not too good on her old friend, were they?

Azula isn’t actually looking when Ty Lee enters but her eyes snap up when she hears her voice, unable to keep the mix of emotions from her face. She has cleaned herself up since she came back into the palace but her face is still wild and her clothing is not meticulous like it once was. The princess stands from her crouching stance, standing tall and trying hard to school her features.

Ty Lee’s presence hits her more than Mai’s had and her foot lifts just a little before she catches the unwilling movement and stops herself from stepping backwards. “You must have been busy.” Her tone is scathing and her face pulls into a scowl, despite her realizing she’s given Ty Lee an excuse for abandoning her the way she has. The way everyone has.

Ty Lee winced. Azula was angry. She should have expected it--she was expecting it. The tone still sent chills down her back, and she felt like a horrible person... even though, deep down, she knew she shouldn't feel that way. She shouldn't feel bad for this.

She just couldn't help it.

Her eyes stared at the wall behind the firebender. "Oh, very busy," she said, her words nervous. "I've been learning how to be a Kyoshi Warrior! It's a lot harder than it looks--you can't just wear their makeup and go with it like we did before."
