There was a group meeting last Friday. Perhaps, I had too high expectations, but I expected some of the issues I brought up to be discussed. Well, I asked whether we should try and schedule a weekly design meeting. Joe, my advisor, punted the question to Mothy, who responded by saying, no... that would slow down development. Strike one

How much more do you have to do before you get your PhD?

Umm, not clear, a lot may depend on how this turns out. In general it can be measured by the number of papers submitted to top-tier conferences. I technically have 2, but if things work out poorly those may only count as 1 towards the thesis.
