Movie Review: AVP II

Okay, so I finally had a little time to myself so I got a little caught up on my movie list.  I just saw Aliens Vs. Predator Two. (I refuse to call it by it's pretentious title "requium"; it's AVP II dammit!)   I won't say this is a good film, but I think it's safe to say that anyone who would consider even watching a movie bearing the title "

I saw the predator as less a random dude that was out for some trophies and more the predator special ops dude that gets sent in when the shit hits the fan in a major way.

Either way, though, I agree ... this was not, by any stretch of the imagination, a good movie, but it was a fun movie that did a good job keeping with the feel of the original movies that spawned it.

Did you catch the bit at the end with the Asian chick that was CEO of some company? When we went see it, Joshbob pointed out that her last name and the last name of the CEO from the first AVP movie combine to form the formal name of "The Company" from the original Aliens movies ... so they definitely wanted to through in some stuff to tie everything together.

I missed that tidbit at the end, so thanks. That's cool. I didn't think the Predator was some random dude that was out for some trophies, but he wasn't really all that concerned with the welfare of the humans who got in his way, which was my point. Either way he was cool and scary. And they did a much better job this time of having him fight and fight and fight, losing bits of weapons and going through his entire freaking arsenal of weapons as he takes on the hordes of aliens.

The one thing that bugged me was that they had three aliens sprouting from each human chest. That's just wrong. It's supposed to be one alien. Don't mess with the formula! And of course they never adequately explained how they got more eggs, but it's the kind of movie you shouldn't look at too closely.

Not good, but fun.
