aw man, i had the BEST DAY ever yesterday...spent the day on the crater rim spotting for people doing stream sampling further down the mountain. got dropped off at 09.30 (by helicopter, of course...how else do you get to work?) and picked up at 18.30.... 9 HOURS ON THE CRATER RIM with the task of watching the lava dome grow! these people have the ( Read more... )

aw man, life is hard out here. it's so hot and sunny. and they make me do stuff like go fly round the crater in a helicopter, measuring the gases in the plume. it's tough, let me tell you. and when there's no helicopter, they make me do powerpoint presentations to a group of government scientists, all of which have PhDs and know far more about what ( Read more... )
