Omgomgomgomg it's posted omg! And I can't read it until tomorrow, waugh. But! It is open in tabs! And will be read just as soon as I have actual free time! Eeeee, it's posted omg! *bounces*
Rodney! Tiny Tortie kitten Rodney! With his little paws and resting them on John's arm and he is such an idiot and I love this so much! And of course people like it, silly, it's awsome! *pets* Also, Rodney insisting upon rolling his eyes is the most precious thing, as is the inevitable result. Largely because kittens blinking and shaking their heads is one of the most adorable things my mind can conjure, and it's RODNEY, and oh! Such the pure precious. I am so fond of Rodney being a complete idiot in matters that are not science-related, and oh, this was that in spades. Rodney! And John! *flails!*
John and Rodney make the most adorable cats. Wonderfully written. I love that Rodney makes a very competent cat while still retaining human qualities (not bathing himself, trying to avoid hairballs) and John gives into those cat instincts much quicker. It's a great character point. Thanks for sharing.
Oh my gosh, thank you! You picked up on one of my favourite things that came out in the writing rather than being planned, so eeee, I'm very glad you enjoyed that part! :)
He ignores the instinct to preen, as that would involve licking his own fur, and if there’s one thing he’s learned about flirting over the years, it’s that licking your own fur is a bad idea.
And why does it not surprise me that Rodney knows this?
Sometimes I picture Rodney practicing pick-up lines on his cat. And then I giggle into my hands, because I don't doubt that it's happened, nor that said cat's reaction was to clean himself, at which point Rodney made the mental note never to do that. XD
