I was a teenager in the 1950s and I remember nearly everything is this video. Even if you were born later, you'll undoubtedly see some familiar things. Ahh, nostalgia. I couldn't embed the video. but you can watch it HERE.

though i came around a decade later, i remember a lot of those things. the savings stamps (mom had books of those) portable record players (we had a red one), those plastic things for your 45s, real ice cream trucks and those skates!

ah, the good old days!

I remember my metal skates, and how they sounded chink-chink-chink as they hit the cracks in the sidewalk.

I learned to roller skate using skates like that on the sidewalk when I was around eight. My mother made me wear the same pair of (old) shoes with them because they really tore up shoe soles.

Green stamps! X-ray glasses! Viewmaster! I had that loom and Gilbert chemistry set, and STILL have my original jacks from when I was a child. I still remember how the dessert from the Swanson frozen dinners tasted.

That was absolutely wonderful, and I’m sending the link to my brother (born 1953).

Oh! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. So many memories there for me, too. A friend I used to work with at RCA Records sent the link to me. I'm sure your brother will get a kick out of it, too.

M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E!

So many current celebrities got their start there.

Yup. Some of the things they showed were actually in the 60's, but most of it was the 50's. It's amazing how seeing these things can really take us back to that time!

True. I think some of the people photos were 1960, but I remember so much that's in the video that it's hard to differentiate. So many memories pop into my mind when seeing some of those things.

This was a bit before my time, but I still recognized/had a lot of those things. Like the Viewmaster and loom and dial phones and metal jacks (found some when we went through mom's basement in June, in fact), and I bought a box of Ring Dings because I hadn't had them in so long. ;-)

Seeing some of those things instantly bring memories to mind. Ring Dings...I didn't know they were even still made. I remember how much I loved animal crackers.

A bit before my time but there were things that made me grin as I remembered - S&H green stamps! And 45rpm records and ice cream trucks and Howard Johnsons. A blast from the past. Thanks for the link :)
