Today we learned about NG (Naso Gastric) tube feedings. This was pretty cool but also as with everything there are a TON of steps to remember. Wanna go through them all? Ok:P When you first walk into the room you want to make sure you have the right patient. Match the name AND the number on the ID bracelet with the name AND number in the chart. Go ( Read more... )

gotta love nasogastric tubes.... and such horrible teachers, i could tell you stories. i remember the first semester of my nursing school time, i freaked out when i got to clinical and had a mini-breakdown during the second semester's clinical. yeah. some instructor's suck.

but that's not the reason i'm commenting... now, before you say i don't read your entries, i do read them all.. just been busy. the real reason i am commenting is because on the local NPR radio station they had an interesting news segment that i figured you should listen to. the address is:

http://www.insideout.org/documentaries/nursingshortage/index.asp

it's a three part series and only plays in the morning on the radio news show... anyway, let me know what you think!

Ya, it's all true what they say. All my instructors are over 50 at my school. There was only one that was in her 30's but she quit because she wanted to be home with her kids. The nurses are definately getting older. I liked the section about travelling nurses, that's what I wanted to do before I met Chris. I don't think he'd be very happy with me if I did it now;) Yeah, my instructor is killing me. As nervous as I am about actually going to clinicals and doing everything right, I'm even more nervous about passing my skills tests with her watching. Ugh. Hey was that insideout thing supposed to be just audio or was there video too?
