I had my first experience with the infamous jury duty today.

I've heard stories, though none specific, about how terrible it is to get called in for jury duty.
The only gripe I have with it is that you have to sit and wait much, much longer there than we do for the DMV ( Read more... )

Ahh I wish I'd have brought a book. I'm really into Robert Jordan's 'Wheel of Time' series, working my way through the ninth one right now.

It would have been better than perfect timing to continue my reading.

take a pillow to sit on too.
Yeah, it's not life destroying for the jury, just boring and redundant, unless you're the defendent.

If I'm selected to return any time within the next two years, I'll remember the pillow.
A book will be with me for certain, though. :)

I actually enjoyed jury duty a lot, but I was actually selected, of course. Jury duty isn't a big deal, but you should always bring reading material until you've been selected for a jury. Even in that case, most trials end shortly (mine lasted two days).

I wanted to be selected for a trial, I was really looking forward to it!

Instead, I have to be satisfied knowing that I was helping the trial system. Gah.

that's precisely why people dread jury duty. It's just a long and boring process. Havent you ever seen 12 angry men?! I love that movie. But yeah, life destroying? More like life interupting...

Never seen it, we should watch it sometime.

And I think life-interrupting fits the bill much better.
