So I watched Under the Red Hood yesterday. And holy moly, was it good.

I want a something based on this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCtSArjZCLI

Also, I'm probably going to tie this into The Dark Knight, too, as that's my favorite Joker incarnation. Hope you don't mind! :)

(They say nothing was found.)When he comes to, the first thing Robin notices is the strong smell of gasoline. It’s hanging in the air around him, a thick cloud that clogs his throat and makes him cough with each inhale. The stench is potent enough that it makes his head spin, and though he starts to adjust to it after a minute or so, his headache remains ( ... )

Try as he might, he can’t figure out what time it is, whether hours or days have passed. The windows are covered with such a thick layer of grime that he can’t tell whether it’s day or night. He wonders if enough time passed that the team will have noticed he’s missing; and surely if they haven’t, Batman will have by now. At least, he hopes so. He hadn’t told anyone where he was going, if only because he didn’t want them to interfere - or worse, try to stop him ( ... )

“It’s such a shame Bats isn’t here to introduce us. Quite rude of him, if you ask me,” the man continues. “Then again, he was never good about including me in his life. Always hiding me away, like he was embarrassed. Did you know I had to crash a party he didn’t even invite me to just to meet his squeeze? Her name was... Huh, what was her name? Rebecca, Regina-?”

“Rachel,” Robin spits out before he can help it, because while he’d never met the woman, he’s seen the pain in Bruce’s eyes on the rare occasions she’s mentioned. It’s a stark and haunting pain, the kind that will never fade, and the fact that this psycho can’t even remember her name infuriates him. “Her name was Rachel“Oh, that’s right. Rachel, what a feisty thing she was! She had a good fight in her, that girl.” A shrill laugh follows, and then the man steps further into the light. His eyes are wild and bloodshot, hair hanging around him in greasy, poison-colored strands. He’s dressed just as he was in all the images Robin has seen in the database: the same purple suit, ( ... )

“He’s not the only one who’ll be looking for me,” Robin says. He knows it’s pointless, that threats won’t deter this man in the slightest, but he has to try. “My team is coming, too, and they-,”

“Oho, that’s right! I almost forgot,” the Joker exclaims, finishing with his sleeves and approaching the boy again. A wave of dismay washes over Robin as he realizes the man is holding the crowbar once more. “Your little playmates in the Daycare League. I wouldn’t worry about them, they’re going to be a bit preoccupied.”

A shout of rage leaves Robin, but before he can say anything, the Joker waves his free hand dismissively. “No need to fret, I haven’t done anything to them. I’m just planning to send them a... message.” And he laughs again.

“What do you want?” Robin demands ( ... )

The crazed glint has vanished from the Joker’s eyes. In its place is a cold, calculating look - the look of a man who’s in control, a man who knows exactly what he’s doing. This is no rabid dog; this is a mad, angry dog that knows who to bite, how to bite. And in many ways, that’s more dangerous by far.

“Oh, but see, that’s where you’re wrong,” the Joker says, and his voice is just as composed. He reaches out, gripping Robin by the chin. “Batman will fall for it. And do you want to know why he’ll fall for it ( ... )

Just wow, your Joker characterization in this is so perfect I can just hear his intonations in my head as I'm reading it.

But oh god, somewhere between your wonderful build up of tension here, the Joker making it a performance for Bruce and recently rewatching A Clockwork Orange, my mind supplied me with a rather vivid image of the Joker dancing around and doing the whole Singing In The Rain bit while beating Dick with that crowbar DDD:

The phrase "white face" suddenly reminded me of that Helen of Troy poem, and my brain immediately got to work rewriting it. "All Gotham hates/the crazed eyes in the white face/destruction following wheree'er he stands/dying by his hands..."

Wonderful Joker dialogue (I just LOVE fics that include the Joker written well). "Daycare League"... definitely something Joker would say. And the tie in with actual "Batman Begins" was done quite well and believably.

I'm frightened and intrigued with what the Joker will do to Robin here... and the reactions both Batman and his team will have.

oh god, oh god. I've been waiting for Red Hood inspired fic for so long, and this is so perfect! And it's mixed in with the Dark Knight universe, best joker ever!

Wow, just wow. Can't wait for more. And yes, your joker voice is excellent.
