Somewhere to his left Robin landed, “Anything yet?” he asked.
“Nothing,” Wally replied with a shrug- it was a fairly quiet night so far.
Sighing in disappointment Robin flopped onto the roof, “Man, why is it so quiet. Normally I’m late getting to these checkpoints!” he sat up, “You don’t think we’re missing something big are we?”
Wally turned, “Not that I know of.”
“Can we just skip the break?” Robin asked hopefully.
“NO!”
He said it with such force that Robin openly stared at him, “O…kay, we’ll take the break.”
Smiling nervously Wally turned away and hurried to the edge of the roof, way to keep his cool. Still…he’d been planning this for almost a month now, to have this chance…and toss it away- he wasn’t going to do that. This was what he’d been waiting for! There was no way it could go wrong, today had been quiet, there was almost no chance of them being pulled away from this break, he had a whole ten minutes or so to get around to saying what he wanted to say. “Hold that thought KF,” there was a command in that voice and it was all business now.
Wally frowned but dashed to Robin’s side, looking to where he was- a couple of shady looking characters were creeping out of an alley towards a small family, parents and two little kids- it didn’t take a genius to figure out what was going to happen, it didn’t take long for it to happen either. The criminals stalked up, their knives flashing- Robin flashed him a quick smile, “We can keep talking after this, alright?”
“Yeah,” Wally muttered, he tried to keep the disappointment out but it was hard to do and pretty obvious, “Sure. Let’s take care of this first,” and he pulled is goggles down.
It was an easy job, Wally distracted them and Robin dropped from behind and the rest was a cinch. There were only five guys, and they had been surprised and all the knives were in Wally’s hands before the men could even realize that they had disappeared. It was while Robin was tying up the criminals that Wally checked on the family- smiling brightly and ( ... )

There’s something about playing video games that brings out the most competitive parts in people. Not that the two of them aren’t regularly competitive, but whenever they sit on Dick’s floor and start up the game system things just get…vindictive. Often the matches end up with arguments and playful fighting, none of it serious though and after a brief food break they’re back to playing. Wally enjoys these gaming sessions probably a little more than he should. It’s also an almost perfect time to confuse to Dick. They’re alone in these gaming sessions, the atmosphere is comfortable and there’s no chance of being distracted by needing to stop crime. It was just a matter of timing.
After grabbing food but before starting up a new round was always a good time. So it was just the time that Wally decided to confess. Nibbling on the cookie Wally watched as Dick flipped through the games, searching for the one they hadn’t played yet today. “Hey Dick?”
“We’re not playing Smash Brothers again. You’ve already proved your point.”

Wally’s figured that out over time. He’s been to the Wayne mansion plenty of times, and over those times he’s gotten to know more about the Wayne family. They’re a large dysfunctional family, and all of them look up to Dick. And they don’t care if Wally’s there or not, when they need their big brother, they’ll get their big brother. More than once Wally’s been ignored in favor of one of the younger siblings. Not just in their game sessions- although that’s happened more than once.
There was a time when they were about to go out, Stephanie came running down the hall saying Jason was playing too rough. Dick had told Wally to go ahead and he’d catch up. Wally had gone ahead but Dick never showed up. That was just one example. Damien would need help with homework, and even though there were others to ask he’d go straight to Dick. Stephanie needed some help with a project. Cassandra wanted a bedtime story. Jason wants to practice a few maneuvers. The list went on and on.
Still…Wally glances over at Dick who’s reading the instruction ( ... )

Pressing against the door Wally comes to a weak realization- he’s probably not going to get out of this one. Wheezing slightly he slumps to the ground, he’s sore from repeatedly hitting the door, he’s got a bloody nose from trying to go through the wall, and he can’t catch his breath- “59%”- because all the oxygen in the room is slowly being drained out, or at least he thinks it is anyways.
Rolling over on his back Wally stares up the ceiling. Great mission, up until there was that ambush. Next thing he knows he wakes up in this room. The lights flicker off as soon as gets to his feet and a little electronic panel right next to the door happily informs him every time the level of oxygen/air/whatever goes down a percentage. He’s in a sealed box dying because he’s breathing. And trying to escape didn’t exactly help his oxygen situation much. Wally only wishes he had been a little more useful before being caught, and selfishly he wishes that he wasn’t going to die alone. “55%”

Nothing, he’s alone again. Wally lays there for a minute- 21%- and comes to a realization. He’s not going to die sitting down. Dragging himself to his feet Wally goes to wall opposite of the door, turns and presses his back against it. He takes a deep breath and then launches himself as fast as he can at the door. A loud smack sounds as he slams against it, managing to build enough speed to shake the door, but it doesn’t open. It’s electronically sealed so no matter how hard he throws himself at it, it won’t open. Still Wally turns and stumbles his way back to the opposite wall, he again turns and runs into the door. He repeats this three times before the spots in his vision force him to stop- 12%.
Slumping against the door Wally tries to catch his breath, he doesn’t want to die. He wants to live and run some more. He wants to eat M’gann’s burnt cookies and then help her make better ones. He wants to argue with Artemis again because as much as he complains she’s pretty cool. He wants to drag Supey out to different places and show ( ... )
