Not A Sidekick anonymous July 22 2011, 05:46:33 UTC
There was a prompt last part where Robin was a secret league member. I really want a fic based off that, because no matter what Red Arrow may claim, Robin was never a sidekick. Because you know he had to have known about the Watchtower, you know he probably knows every single league member personally, and Batman would not just have measly sidekick, he'd have a kickass partner.

A fic representing this, please.

Bonus: he was given the "tour" to appease the sidekicks.
Double Bonus: He was placed on YJ to keep an eye on their training (He's the secret mentor.)

What what what? An update?!

This was kind of like, 'a day in the lives of Batman and Robin', and reads smoothly. But this is my favorite chapter, because of that last line. Absolutely nothing happens in the whole chapter, and the last line hits perfectly.

And each chapter, it becomes clearer that Robin is, in fact, a partner.

Thanks for continuing this.

Im do late but this short piece was amazing! I loved Robin's "Bats in distress" thing and the obvious trust between the two was wonderful. Can't wait for more!

Thanks! I keep getting distracted and stuff, but I was really on a roll with it a while ago, with drafts of the next pieces and stuff. I recently caught up on a lot of the episodes from the first season, so I just jumped back in. I can't promise to not be sporadic though....

"It's quiet tonight, Gotham bright, you know." Robin flutters in through the window, seating himself on the window sill and kicking his legs out as if to stretch them. They knock against the wall beneath it in a quick, flurried tempo before stopping. There's no pattern, but the beat is not a little bit catchy. "We really have nothing else to do, Mac. Schedule's all clear, ready to go." White lenses stare at him from a boyish face (there were laws against this, he knows, but he's seen that kid take down metas twice his size, and even with the creepy laugh, he was more for justice than half the force), a small smile in a room with the dead body of a little girl, the Batman, and his lonely self ( ... )

That is another question we may never know the answer to.

I really liked the way McKenzie starts thinking about how young Robin really is and shuts himself off before he can go much further. These characters, random and third person and of different kinds, are the ones who make it obvious that in Gotham, it's Batman and Robin.

Don't worry about being sporadic; I'll be tracking this for whenever you update!

I love how nuanced and fleshed out this fic is. The outside characters really gives the reader a realistic perspective on Batman and Robin. Not to mention, how you've turned Gotham into a character herself, with all her darkness and Darwinian approach in caring for her children. It kinda reminds me of how in the movie se7en, the City is a character - quietly maddening, brutal character.

I can't wait for this story to finally start in on the YJ scene. You've built up the reality of Robin's true life as a protector of Gotham so well, and I'm honestly really interested in seeing how the team would react to that. Especially if they find out about his true purpose on the team.

Is loving this so so much! The police fire is such and interesting set of characters to witness and the comraderie that's there among them and even between them and the dynamic duo is interesting to read about. I can't wait to see the League in this and then The Team

Oh my god, please carry on with this. It looks like it hasn't been updated for a while, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. The way you write is flowing and incredibly intriguing, because when you read between the lines, there are a lot of hidden messages. I love how you've made Gotham into a character. The way you've potrayed Batman and Robin is amazing, with Batman just bring Batman and Robin being slightly insane and a tiny bit sadistic but mature and wise underneath it all. I find all the OCs interesting because I've always wondered what 'normal' Gothamites thought of them.
I really, really hope you add onto this soon because this has so much potential and is easily the greatest fill I've seen on this meme.
