So I am updating just to update. I have had a ok week except for the fact that Friday night was the worst night at work I have ever had. I was taking this table their second round of drinks and the woman I was standing by had her purse on the floor. When I went to step over it I tripped on it and dropped her and her husbands martini’s in her lap

Upscale these days usually means "upper middle class" which translates into "smug, self-important jerk". Sounds like you experienced that first hand. My only solace in those situations is that while they may be living more materially rewarding lives, that's all they are living. They will possibly end up finding religion in their search for meaning, but even that will be completely hollow for them. But it will satisfy them because other people can see them being satisfied. Ah, to have no spiritual and intellectual depth beyond what car you drive, what restaurant you frequent and what house you live in. Ignorance is bliss. :)
