Hey you all!

I'm cozied up in my wee apartment, listening to the sounds of Hurrican Noel (or is he a tropical storm now?)overhead. I've got warm coffee. I've turned on the heat for the first time this year and I'm feeling surprisingly content. I'm currently packing up my Pay It Forward gifties, but probably won't make it to the post office before ( Read more... )

Wow, look at all the tongue in your LJ. :D

That's a lot of great stuff to be cheerful about. Yay!

All good here -- just hit the 5k mark on my NaNo. Woohoo! And there are fireworks lighting up the sky all over our neighborhood tonight in the lead up to Bonfire Night.

Wow, 3 days into the project and you're already at 5K! That is great news. Hope the rest of the month goes just as smoothly.

What is Bonfire Night? or rather, what is it in celebration of?

It's also known as Guy Fawkes Night and "celebrates the foiling of the Gunpowder Plot of the 5th of November 1605 in which a number of Roman Catholic conspirators, including Guy Fawkes, attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament." More here.

This bit is interesting: "In Ottery St Mary, in Devon, burning barrels of tar are carried through the streets."

I think that's the town JKR based the name of Ottery St Catchpole on.
