-No Shit Spurlock! In general, steve's opinions are copied from internet message boards or other people, and while internet message boards are filled with imbeciles, the sheer stupidity of his one-word summation of the brilliant "Napoleon Dynamite" leads me to believe that it is all his own.
My boggled sputtering, and that of my good friend at how a person could consider such an over-the-top caricature as Napoleon Dynamite "subtle" was ended abruptly by my mother's reaction to his choice of words.
The conversation went as follows:
xxxx: Did I tell you what steve chau thought of napoleon dynamite?
Mother: no, what'd he think of it?
xxxx: he said that if he could describe it in one word, it would be "subtle."
Mother: ... ? ... ?
Mother: Maybe he doesnt know what "subtle" means.
I think she said it best, and I think she solved the mystery.
Double points to anyone who gets the double entendre in the title.
sub·tle ( P ) Pronunciation Key (stl) adj. sub·tler, sub·tlest
So slight as to be difficult to detect or describe; elusive: a subtle smile. Difficult to understand; abstruse: an argument whose subtle point was lost on her opponent. Able to make fine distinctions: a subtle mind.
Characterized by skill or ingenuity; clever. Crafty or sly; devious. Operating in a hidden, usually injurious way; insidious: a subtle poison.
The following would fit:
1. " Characterized by skill or ingenuity; clever." 2. "So slight as to be difficult to detect or describe"

Usually when people say that it's because things have changed a lot. She just went to Washington (Not that I didn't miss her, because I did!).
