You're lucky, you'll go in knowing what a clusterfuck it is. I went in completely unawares and now I can't even handle my thought-process, I'm so disappointed. WHY, KEL, WHY.
I CANNOT WITH IT. And I've genuinely always believed HIMYM to be a good show, doing some really great emotional & comedic work. Playing with narrative and structure, creating great characters and relationships.

LOL, I didn't realize there was a second comment, but it's okay, I'm willing to voice my disappointment again. SUCH A GREAT SHOW AND THIS? And I didn't even ship Barney/Robin at all. This isn't even about that for me. It's about undermining everything every character in this show has stood for for NINE YEARS. Like, wow, that's an achievement.

I have no words, seriously. I am a Barney/Robin shipper but that's not even why I'm pissed at this finale. It's how we got here that royally sucked. This was a great show but come on, ignoring years of character development and facts just to end up like it began...except this time didn't make any sense.
They said some of those scenes were shot 7 years before..but I mean, you don't have to stick for something just because you shot it A LONG time ago. The characters have their own life and when they decide to go with an idea ignoring all that the characters ARE, then it's just a shame. And what about Lily? Ok, she's pregnant..but what about her work?? I wanted to know!
EXACTLY. To imagine that they ended it as they did just to match up to two minutes of footage of the kids that they may as well NOT have aired is even stupider than I can possibly comprehend. Or, if they knew how they wanted it to end, they should have written that, instead of just tacking it on at the end as an afterthought.
