Second week of classes end tomorrow, I'm ready to be done, yeah. Five relatively easy classes, but a pretty weird schedule. not that, that matters all that much. I'm psyched for far different reasons ( Read more... )

I suspect it's because Heinlein himself had some goddamn interesting views. I don't agree with all of them (although I don't remember disagreeing with any of the views he puts forth in Stranger in a Strange Land, which is probably why it's one of my favourite books by him), but they're all really interesting.

Yeah, it's quite interesting how a lot of Heinlein's views seem to be all over the place in terms of political spectrum. Starship Troopers is about as far to the right you can get pre-fascism, and even then it's debatable if the Federation really wasn't a fascist government. Then Stranger is the complete opposite.

I imagine you'd like Job: A Comedy of Justice by Heinlein as well. The heavy satire of religion is fairly interesting.
