Cars allow people to dehumanize anybody and use their fossil fuel empowered vehicle to do whatever they choose in any emotional state.

Cars don't do that. People do that. It's a choice they make.

I totally agree about the urban thing. It's just my lifestyle.

I do have a drivers' license but I definitely prefer public transit. In addition to being more environmentally friendly and other practical benefits, it's much more human. Using cars to get everywhere allows people to avoid interacting with or even noticing the people who share their city. For many, it adds much unnecessary aggravation to any sort of routine trip. I find that in my own life, the advantages definitely outweigh the disadvantages of taking public transit in most situations.

I'm kinda jealous. I feel like I couldn't survive without my car now and I don't like that feeling. I have a girlfriend who is 27 and doesn't have her license... if you don't feel like you need it then don't get it and don't let anyone make you feel bad for that!!

I'd love to live in an area where I could be like that. I live 35 minutes away from the closest bus stop (by car). so that's a no go.

I drive an hour to, and from work each day. sometimes it can take up to 3 hours getting home in the summers.

you're not missing anything!
