For example, I have come across many beautiful little ethereal type bands who are unique and wonderful. Also, at the Edinburgh festival this year I have seen a band performing renaissance music on crazy old instruments / replicas of instruments and another band performing somewhat macabre baroque music which was lovely. If you avoid the radio, I think it's alright really.
However, I guess an interesting question is why is what is popular music-wise so much more samey these days? What is happening to our drive to experiment / create / experience different things? And in that I see many many problems with our societies. I really do feel the media is dumbing down most people, at least in terms of their individualism.
