001 - Arrival

If it is not one war, then it is surely another. Sigh Though, I wonder how tactical it would be to take the ruler of a country and force them to fight in a war they are currently uninvolved in. I have never even heard of this place, though I am almost positive ‘Econtra’ is a guise of a name, given to hide the true identity of where this could ( Read more... )

You're right, they aren't telling anyone anything about this war. A lot of us doubt it's even happening, but...

Ah, welcome to Econtra anyway!

If it isn't happening, then I'm even more concerned that this place would wish to incite the anger of Archades, especially considering the necessary continuation of delegations between Dalmasca and Archades...

Thank you, miss!

... Huh? What's Archades?

If you need to know anything, don't hesitate to ask me. All try to answer all your questions the best I can.

Archades is my home.

I am curious though. How is it that only a few people have heard of Archades?

Certainly not! To pull others to fight... It will no doubt lead to unnecessary bloodshed. I'm certain they could resolve more with talking than fighting... I hope, at any rate.

Dr. Cid would be better able to understand it than I would... I lack the age and experience with technology to make any worthwhile guesses.

More often than not, compromise and talking will lead to the solution both parties desire. The complications come from pride and misunderstanding.

It is different than any technology available in Archades, as well as Rozarria, I presume...

Well, you're right about that... they really haven't told us much. But apparently we're going to be fighting something called "Entropi," which can't be defeated by the people here. Thus why they've created this military... thing... and collected a bunch of people from different worlds who'd rather be anywhere but here.

... But welcome to Econtra, I guess...

The desire to return home is natural, I should think... Not many people are truly this altruistic...

Thank you, sir.

...Ivalice? Um... You're not Llednar, are you?!

I'm afraid not! I am Larsa Solidor. Who might you be?

Oh good! Llednar was scary... I'm Marche Radiuju... I was taken from Ivalice, too!

What country are you from? I hadn't heard of any disappearances in Archades, but perhaps Dalmasca or Rozarria have...

This is a war like any other, I suppose. People die or live, and those that live remake their circumstances and cease to be prey. Yet you seem to take an idealistic view of war.

It makes me wonder how you have lived so long.

I rather don't like war. If peace can be achieved through talking and compromise, I would much rather that course be taken.

Clinging foolishly to the idea that force solves everything has cost those close to me much... And countless others no doubt suffer all the more than I can imagine.

As it is, I'm young and still have time to learn.

Interesting. I shall admit that I am young too, but my youth is measured not by age but by experience. I have seen the battlefield, tasted its sweat, its triumph and its downfall. Humanity itself is a war, fought by those who seek either your destruction or your alliance. Talk, it seems, has a way of lending itself to malice just as much as war.

I can tell you this war has apparently been started by destructive beings intent on human demise. And so, I would wager our battle is survival. Such is the way of things.

Oh yes. There is always room to learn, reformulate ideas.

I disagree. I have fought as well, for the sake of peace and prosperity, and in the end I have learned that war is not as necessary as others too often think.

We do not know the circumstances that caused the beginning of this war, rather we know the end result. It is worth considering that it may again be a war caused by misunderstanding and pride.

Learning and fleshing out beliefs. Even casting those aside which you might have once held dear... I believe that is an essential part of life. But I do not believe war is a necessary part of such a process.
