Dream #2

(OOC: This is when Gai was about 25 or 26; Neji & Co. would definitely be able to recognize that he was teaching them by that point.)

I like to think I'm just enough. )

[ Gai has so much love, and Kakashi doesn't have enough of it. And it's strange, being filled with the intensity of his emotions and passion and everything that is Gai, feeling the world as he does and seeing it through his eyes. Kakashi always knew Gai's world was bright and shining, vibrant with color and life and everything that came in between. Even darkness in Gai's world was velvet rich tones, and the sky a sea of diamonds. Life is beautiful when you're Gai. Everything is beautiful.

Kakashi wonders what he looks like through Gai's eyes.

He knows what he looks like through his own.

(It's why he covers himself up.)

It's hard to stay angry with Gai's emotions still running through him. Kakashi feels strangely light and warm all at once. ]

Mmmm, she's right. You're too much.

[ A slight breath of amusement. ]

[Everything is beautiful to Gai, and Kakashi is perhaps one of the most beautiful sights of all, whether Gai realizes it or not. Either way, he's never thought that Kakashi needed to be covered up--he respects Kakashi's desire to do so, but he still feels that he could find some very genuine strength and joy in lowering his walls to let others see him for who and what he is, the way Gai already can.]

[Gai's still groggy as he answers Kakashi's comment, voice deep and scratchy with lingering sleep; he's grinning even so, chuckling at the sentiment.] Are you sure you don't mean I'm too much for you to handle, Kakashi?

[ Kakashi thinks he's stronger walled in. It's why he builds his fortresses so high and thick, few can ever see over them or breach his gates. It's easier to live a life under wraps, covering up vulnerability with the safety of a mask.

The shadows of his lips slightly tilt up in a smirk underneath the cloth it's covered by. ]

Ah, well... sometimes you can be a little... overbearing.

[ Kakashi admits, but it's not anything Gai hasn't heard before. ]

But it's nothing I can't handle.

Then obviously I'm just bearing enough for your needs! You are, after all, my Eternal Rival!

[Yes, you get a Nice Guy Pose. Even while he's still laying down and half-asleep.]

Y-y'know after everything else...

You seem kinda normal.

[Gai's not entirely sure what to make of that. After what everything else? The sexual dreams people have about Kakashi? He supposes his is pretty tame, comparatively. But still, he's willing enough to take that as a compliment; Gai laughs, grinning and seeming rather unphased by people getting a peek at his sex life.] Well, thank you!

[ Thinks people in Konoha have loud relationships. ]

[Despite the heat and the warmth on his cheeks, he's actually smiling. It was ... nice. To feel this kind of emotion and to direct it to one person. Iruka always respected genuine affection, because it was an overwhelming feeling that made one so complete and like they were on top of the world.

He didn't seem to be too bothered about the sex itself as much as the emotions within the act itself.

A part of him wished he had something like that, to give, to receive.]

Gai-sensei, you're ... incredibly sweet. Whoever you end up with, they'll be very lucky.

[Sincere! To the core!]

[Gai has never made any secret of his romantic life, or the reputation it garners him--he's not a steady man. He's a prodigious lover, ranging far and wide in his tastes and in general satisfying anyone he takes up with, however briefly. But even though he isn't consistent, he's completely sincere and genuine, open and honest--he might not be the right man for everyone, but he will love you and take care of you with all his heart while you're with him. He will make you feel good, and remember that part of you that's tender and human and needs that kind of care. He won't lie to you, but he'll be there when you need him to be; love is something that should be shared with everyone, he believes.]

[Naturally, with that kind of no-strings-attached affection, Gai has a standing arrangement with damn near half the kunoichis (and a fair few of the male ninjas, too) of the village to come see him whenever they'd like.]

[Even so, he beams warmly at Iruka in return; it's very kind of him to say that, and he's glad to have the man's approval.] I ( ... )

[In return, Iruka never made other people's love lives his business. It was probably because he expected the same courtesy from others. Rare would he encounter a man or woman who was able to give that amount of love and genuine emotion, to want, to care for those they're with no matter how brief.

He didn't know the woman and he didn't know Gai. But that feeling couldn't have been a lie. It was hard to fake that.

He continued to smile and his respect for Gai just went up by several levels. Being shinobi, it was hard to feel that for anyone, they're lives too hard and too dirty, they're minds too broken.

Gai was a beacon and Iruka hoped - sincerely hoped - that his example would influence more people.]

You're very welcome, Gai-sensei. I wish you happiness, with whoever, even if it's fleeting or short. And ... uhm thank you, I guess.

[Now this - this was definitely something he needed to teach his kids. When he ... gets home. If ever.]

And you as well! [Iruka gets an enthusiastic thumbs up at that.] You're a lucky man, being able to fill your life with so many precious people!

[ Gai-sensei's dream is easily the most normal he's witnessed to date, and Neji can relate to it. He takes care of himself as being a youth of eighteen, he has little choice. Fifteen minutes later, surprised by the pride he feels for his father figure, the boy takes it upon himself to address him. ]

Gai-sensei? Your dream was... nice.
