The linkback perk poem "
To Attend a Ball" is now complete. You can now reveal verses by linking to this list of unsold poetry.
"
After the Departure" -- Available after "Moulting" is sponsored SOLD Fledgling Grace)
The "Fallen Angel" picture inspired the poem "After the Departure." It's a direct sequel to "Moulting" and shows other denizens of Hell responding to what happened. It is written in unrhymed quatrains.
"
Bleeding Light" -- 76 lines, $38 (Monster House) SOLD
Followup to the cloud battle is the free-verse poem "Bleeding Light." This also pulls in some of the discussion from the previous poem, ideas about the relationship between the boy and his cloud. It's a different perspective, a different flavor of creepy.
"
The Cybernetic Sorcerers" -- 25 lines $10 SOLD
I used the prompt about mailer-daemons to create the free-verse poem "The Cybernetic Sorcerers." The higher speed in computing really came from summoning infernal servants.
"
The Demon in the Bottle" -- 98 lines, 49SOL (One God's Story of Mid-Life Crisis)
The prompt about battling demons led to the free-verse poem "The Demon in the Bottle." Shaeth discovers that separating Trobby from the influence of alcohol is not as simple a process as he thought it would be. And he wasn't expecting the demon at all. This is a darker, creepier poem than the earlier ones in this series.
"
The Demon in the Clockwork" -- 213 lines $106.50 (P.I.E.) OLD
This prompt became the title of a new P.I.E. poem "The Demon in the Clockwork." This is a free-verse poem about a demon rebelling against time and order. Brenda is called to figure out what's wrong with the clock tower. An immaterial fight breaks out and complicated solutions ensue.
"
Denial" -- 33 lines $15 SOLD
I combined the prompt about emotional demons with
ellenmillion's "Strange Portrait" prompt and something that Aoifes_aisle said on Dreamwidth about psychological demons. The result is "Denial," a poem about creating and banishing demons of the mind and heart. Creeeeepy.
"
Deviltry on Steroids" -- 33 lines $15 SOLD
Deals with Devil led to "Deviltry on Steroids." Written in unrhymed tercets, this poem explains how athletes learned to abuse substances to enhance performance, with a little infernal assistance.
"For Life's Sake" -- 33 lines, $15 (Schrodinger's Heroes)
Of course I couldn't resist pairing Maxwell's Demon with Schrodinger. "For Life's Sake" describes how they reduce entropy and prolong life by manipulating probability. You just never know when a cat sleeping in a sunbeam is secretly saving the world.
"
The Formless Ones" -- 235 lines, $117.50 SOL (Path of the Paladins)
Nearly the whole nightmare-demon prompt went into the text of the free-verse poem "The Formless Ones." Our paladins hunt nightmares in the space between dreams. The past is a thing with teeth and claws, but that doesn't mean you have to let it win.
"
The Four Maras" -- 85 lines, $42.50SOLD Kung Fu Robots)
From the Kung Fu Robots prompt came the free-verse poem "The Four Maras." Beggar So explains to Caper that there are demons of wrongful thinking.
"
Hypercube Roots" -- 64 lines $32 (Schrodinger's Heroes/Monster House)
The request for a Schrodinger's Heroes/Monster House crossover inspired the free-verse poem "Hypercube Roots." Dopplegangers from a hell dimension are impersonating people, but most people aren't even noticing. What will it take to identify them and send them back?
"
Infernal Felines" -- 20 lines $10 SOLD
A prompt from Anthony & Shirley Barrette inspired the free-verse poem "Infernal Felines." All cats have a bit of the Devil in them, urging them to do nefarious things.
"
Knocking On" -- 54 lines, $20 SOLD
"Knocking On" is very rude political humor of the anti-Republican flavor, written in free verse. My parents started it with a prompt for Romney/Ryan in a demon-themed fishbowl. Then I added a prompt from DW user Jjhunter about demonic proselytizers. I wrote it down, but I cannot make this shit up. Only the insult to their educational plan and general intelligence is really mine. Romney and Ryan get themselves into so much trouble for so little gain.
"Marks of Devotion" -- Not for sale yet. (Kande's Quest)
From the prompt about child demons came the free-verse poem "Marks of Devotion." It features a baby-demon out of African folklore. It follows "
A Hole in the Blanket" but skips ahead in time, so it's not for sale yet.
"
Moulting" -- 188 lines, $94 SOLD Fledgling Grace)
Your prompt about demonic unbecoming led to the poem "Moulting." A devil inexplicably begins to sprout feathers, and tries to hide it, but winds up finding help in an unexpected place. This poem is written in unrhymed quatrains.
"
Not One Soul Be Lost" -- 52 lines $20 SOLD
While researching for another poem, I came across a description of Lucifer's rebellion, which reminded me of
haikujaguar's rendition of Lucifer, which matched very closely with the one I've always had. Because what's the bigger sacrifice: putting up with humans being horrid for a small span of mortal life, or putting up with them forever so that they will, by Hell and not by Heaven, never be alone and have somewhere to go no matter what? The result is the free-verse poem "Not One Soul Be Lost."
"
Promises to Keep" -- 8 lines, $5 SOLD
This is an indriso about global warming and sea monsters.
"
The Seven Fatal Malfunctions" -- 70 lines $70 (The Steamsmith) SOLD
The idea of demons in the Steamsmith setting led to the poem "The Seven Fatal Malfunctions." It explores the seven deadly sins in free verse, with attention to how they cause problems in alchemy. So it's another example of philosophical demons -- but mixed with this science, they can have very physical effects.
"
The Shadows in the Valley" -- 24 lines, $10 SOLD
From your prompt about the only way out came the free-verse poem "The Shadows in the Valley." Demons pursue a soul on the way to judgement.
"
Wild Hearts Can't Be Spoken" -- 48 lines $20SOLD Fledgling Grace)
I followed the idea of forbidden love to a circle of Hell where all is silent. No tears to cry, no voice to scream. And that's what it takes for some people to find each other. "Wild Hearts Can't Be Spoken" is written in free verse
"
With Its Head Cut Off" -- 168 lines $8 SOLD Path of the Paladins)
I'm happy to revisit Radd. I found him stumbling through a frozen forest with a severed head in his hands. And that's the good part of the tale. Yes, really.
