this song is so much!
I read the lyrics before I heard it - and it's getting onto me, into me, like a chant, like a reminiscent view into future (oh my, ain't I poetic when I'm hangover~)
now after hearing the song as well - you are absolutely right! this is Arashi from before but combined with the skills and matureness from now. the songs you pointed out! exactly!

about the interpretation - for me it's both, about a friendship (I experenced this two times (first time I was leaving a place, the second time a friend was leaving) and still holding both very dear!)
and about a love-relationship - this is the future part, I still working on my plan to go to Japan but I guess I have to go alone~

you're right!I also realised that arashi tends singing song that have story of 'long distance' relationship..sort of~
It's not like the girl 'dumped' the guy..
it's more like they can't really seems to be together due to 'fate' or their 'path'...
so yeah~ in a way it does sound sad..but there will always be a 'spot' for that particular person to come back/will see one another again..and maybe we'll move forward from then on..hohohoho~
plus, it also has feeling that 'he' will never forget about the 'girl'..(i want a guy like that!!~ XD)
anyway, it's a beautiful song..totally different aura from face down!sasuga arashi-chan~~

Thanks for translating and sharing! I saw another translation too and I love the lyrics of this song! It too had triggered an Arashi oldies marathon for me. I had mentioned in my comment to the aforementioned translation, this is somehow similar to Kaze, Natsu no Namae and Be With You for me, but with Hitori Janai, you have a more mature Arashi and them singing a more mature kind of love and separation while the earlier songs reflect young love

YES! I've been watching the drama. They started hinting of a dark past for Enomoto in Ep 2, so I'm looking to see how his character will develop. So far, the focus has been on his skills and his eccentric behavior. He almost seems like he's somewhere on the autistic spectrum. But the drama can't go on this way riding on just that. Looking forward to seeing how things develop!

And congratulations! Will you be moving far to your new school? Frankly, I'm jealous. I'd like to go back to school and be a student again. Keep me updated on how things are going!
